Our Background

How We Got Our Start

Although we have been trapping recreationally for years, this business allows us to help our state, towns, and citizens outside of the trapping season to remove nuisance beaver. We have seen on many occasions the damage that beaver can inflict on the landscape, our roadways, the habitats of other animals, and personal private property. We believe that all of our customers deserve the highest level of service, and we are committed to providing just that.

Sara & Dave

Owner & Operator

Sara & Dave are partners in life and business. Sara owns the business while Dave is the primary operator. Both are licensed trappers.

We enjoy the outdoors and nature. We try to spend as much of our time in nature as possible. We respect nature and all creatures within it. We understand the damage beaver can inflict and because we respect our environment, we believe in balancing the population to prevent damage to properties but also to maintain a healthy population of beavers, including complete removal if required.

Sara

Owner & Trapper

I am a military veteran, mother of four, an OB/GYN ultrasound technologist, licensed trapper and so much more. Over the years trapping recreationally with Dave and seeing the damage that beavers can do, I felt the need to help. Trapping beaver allows us to alleviate issues for the state, towns, and citizens alike, concerning safety and protecting the environment and your personal property.

Dave

Animal Control Operator & Trapper

Dave is an avid outdoorsman. After being medically retired from the Marine Corps due to injuries sustained during Combat Operations in Iraq 2003, Dave found peace spending most of his time in nature. Although he has been hunting, fishing, and trapping since childhood, it became much more instrumental to create a way of living for him and his family while also creating peace of mind for himself. A devoted father of four and partner to Sara, he embraces a way of life that allows him to provide for his family. Dave is so passionate about this way of life that he loves to teach, educate and share his knowledge and expertise with anyone interested.

Our Family

Apprentice Trappers

Our children work hard to help us in many ways. They help us maintain and service our traps, they go scouting with us and help us remove the dispatched beavers. Our daughter loves to brush their pelts and even helps tagging them and bringing them to the regional fur buyer. They all love spending this quality time with us in nature and we believe it is good for their souls and ours.

Common Concerns

The Answers You Need

Home: FAQ

What do you do with the beaver afterwards?

After we remove the beaver(s), we use as much of the animal as we can. This includes sending the skull and/or full skeleton to colleges and schools, using the pelt to process and sell, eating or using the meat for bait (yes beaver meat is edible and delicious), and we either sell the tail or discard it. We pride ourselves on not being wasteful.

Why can't you relocate them?

Just like we cannot take a person and relocate them into someone else's home, you cannot relocate a beaver successfully. They will find other beaver family's territory and try to take over. This causes the beavers to fight and kill each other. In our opinion, relocating beavers is inhumane. We believe that dispatching them as quickly as possible is the most humane way to remove these nuisance animals.

What exactly do you do?

Once you invite us to help you, we go over the procedure with you. Essentially we come in and scout the area of concern. We set up our equipment and check our traps every day. As soon as the number of beavers you want removed are gone, we remove our equipment.

Fun Beaver Facts

Did You Know?

Beavers mate for life!

Beavers are monogamous and live in large family groups consisting of the parents, young kits, and the yearlings from the previous spring. Every spring the two year olds leave the den to make room for the new pups. This creates a constant flow of adolescent beavers searching for new homes and their mates.

Beavers are the second largest rodents on Earth!

Their large rodent teeth never stop growing. The constant gnawing on wood keeps their teeth from growing too long which would prevent them from being able to survive.

Beavers are great hosts!

Beavers have been known to share their lodges with families of muskrats!

Beavers pick specific trees for specific reasons!

Beavers will fell a larger mature tree for their larger diameter branches to form the basis of a dam . A young second growth tree will be felled for food. Beavers will also fell broad-leaved trees to encourage regrowth for food that are more within their reach.

They are good for the environment when kept in check

The work of beavers make them a keystone species in maintaining habitats that are relied on by many others. As well as wetlands, beavers create standing dead wood (by drowning some trees) which is inhabited by insects, and in turn attracts bird life.

Beavers are only second to humans in their ability to manipulate their environment!

The largest dam in existence is located in Wood Buffalo National Park, Alberta, Canada. It stretches for 850 meters and is visible from space!
